ABOUT HYDERABAD

Hyderabad, the emerging knowledge hub of the nation, offers a fascinating blend of tradition and modernity. A strong Industrial, Commercial and Information Technology Center, Hyderabad is the only city in Southern India, where the major language spoken is Urdu.

At the heart of the hustle-bustle of the city is its symbol, Charminar, the impressive square gateway with four minarets. Near the Charminar is the Mecca Masjid, one of the largest in the world. Another of Hyderabad’s prime attractions is the Salar Jung Museum, the world’s largest one-man collection, including unusual collections of jade, marble statues, rare manuscripts, Persian paintings and other objects d’art.

A short distance away looms one of the most magnificent fortresses in India, the Golconda Fort. And the Hi-Tec City symbolizes Hyderabad’s ascendancy in IT. For more details please visit Telangana Tourism website here.

REACH US

Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, is well connected to all the major cities and states by air, rail and road, and a few International flights put Hyderabad on the World Aviation Map.

IDRBT is located near the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) intersection, on the road leading to Mehdipatnam from Masab Tank. The Institute is right behind the NMDC and it is about 12 Kms from Secunderabad Railway Station and about 4 Kms from Hyderabad (Nampally) Railway Station. The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Shamshabad) is around 27 Kms away from the Institute and the air-conditioned Pushpak – Airport Liner, which has a stop at NMDC and runs every half-an-hour, is one of the most comfortable modes of transport.

While the major landmarks enroute to the Institute from the Airport are Aramghar, Attapur, Rethi Bowli, Mehdipatnam, Sarojini Eye Hospital and NMDC, the pointers while traveling to the Institute from Secunderabad Railway Station are Tank Bund, Lakdi-ka-pul and Masab Tank. If you have alighted at the Hyderabad (Nampally) Railway Station, look out for Lakdi-ka-pul and Masab Tank. Since Secunderabad is the Headquarters of the South Central Railway, many of the trains begin and terminate at Secunderabad. The nearest railway station to the Institute’s Quarters is Begumpet or Secunderabad.

Taxis and Autos are available round the clock at all the railway stations and airport. And Hyderabad is known to be a city courteous to its mehman (guests).
